Manchester based law firm DWF has broken into the top 50 of the law firms in the UK following a highly profitable year. Profit earnings per partner rose by 56 per cent to £333,000 at DWF in the year ending April, while turnover also grew by more than £10 million to £71.5 million. Impressively, that figure equates to almost £200,000 per lawyer .
There was significant growth in the legal firms people practice group which includes employment law and pensions with a 48 per cent increase in revenues recorded during the financial year. There was also considerable growth in the firms insurance and litigation divisions, where revenues increased by more than 20 per cent in each area.
Although based in Manchester, one third of DWFs 1,100-strong workforce is based in Liverpool. Managing partner Andrew Leaitherland said the firm plans to continue its growth, both in terms of revenue and staff, with the numbers of solicitors and lawyers at the firm expected to rise. Leaitherland added that the firm hopes to secure a place in the UK top 30 in the near future.
