The Lizard Tamar Lifeboat Appeal is this year’s chosen charity of the Cornwall Law Society .

The announcement was made by Society president Andrew London of Randle Thomas solicitors in Helston at their annual dinner.

Mr London saw first hand how the RNLI work during a recent visit and also saw the lifeboat being launched for an exercise. During his visit Mr London presented the deputy coxswain Louis Mitchell a cheque for £750 on behalf of the Society.

Present were other members of the crew and shore helpers. Operations manager Ned Nuzum thanked Mr London and the Society for their generous donation.

Mr Nuxum said that the fundraising appeal for a new lifeboat was the most important fundraising appeal in the station’s living memory.

The target is to raise £1.7 million to buy a new state of the art Tamar Class lifeboat for The Lizard station .
