Local Government Law
Local government law covers the collection of functions that are undertaken by local authorities, which extend from acupunctures to zoos. There are many functions that the local government is responsible for, and as such, it is important that everything is regulated and legal.
The members of chambers possess experience in dealing with these functions, and this experience is underlined by the considerable amount of work done for local authorities of all descriptions. Chamber members have encountered so many different aspects of local authority regulations, they are readily able to deal with all matters as and when they arise. This is important because it means that those in positions of responsibility know what actions have been taken in the past, when similar matters have been dealt with. They can then base their actions on their experiences of similar cases in the past.
For members of the public, some of the most important aspects that can be a part of local government law are: education, housing, planning, refuse collection, safety and transport. It is within this branch of law that more ‘minor’ disputes will occur, such as filing a complaint about road surfaces or issues with refuse collections. It is then therefore up to the local government to evaluate such complaints and try to resolve any valid issues.
