Immigration Law

Every government has to provide strict controls on immigration into their country. Immigration law refers to the nature and type of control imposed, and is closely linked to nationality law. Immigration law varies from place to place, with more stringent controls imposed on some countries, and from time to time. Immigration policy can swing from inclusive to exclusive.

Some countries are acutely sensitive about who visits, when they visit, how long they stay for, their rights when in the country, etc. but many countries now have fairly relaxed borders depending on the nationality of the visitor. For countries that allow immigration, naturalisation law and residency law can allow immigrants to eventually become residents and citizens.
